Starfish, clams, green surf anemones, Californian sea cucumbers, rock fish, jelly fish, even giant Pacific Octopuses (a baby one of course), are just a few examples of the fascinating marine life you could see at the Ucluelet Aquarium. The creatures on display are gathered from local waters near Ucluelet and they are released back into the wild at the end of each season.
The Ucluelet Aquarium is a truly a gem in this coastal community, giving visitors an up close and personal encounter with a diversity of local marine life. They have touch tanks and an interactive, hands on, learning environment for children and adults.
The displays are full of beautiful creatures, interesting and always changing. Come learn about our marine ecosystems at our mini aquarium, and you’ll agree there isn’t another aquarium like it!
Grande Re-Opening!
The Ucluelet Aquarium is currently constructing a brand new building and facility on the waterfront, just steps from its current location.
The new facility will include a class room that will act as an activity centre, dynamic displays reflecting changes in the marine environment, and a constant water flow system to demonstrate outdoor tide pools, and enrich the habitat of Ucluelet’s harbour.
They will be opening early spring of 2012! Visit www.uclueletaquarium.org to learn more.
