Ucluelet Weather

Mild & Lush Ucluelet Vacation

Ucluelet is dominated by its weather. Its location on the Estevan Coastal Plain, wedged between the sea and the mountains, creates a maritime climate unique in Canada.

Ucluelet's weather is characteristically mild and humid. Moderate temperatures and high precipitation combine to produce a long growing season. This wet, maritime climate, results in a lush temperate rainforest and freedom from extreme temperature changes so common in other parts of Canada.

Moderate temperatures make Ucluelet a travel destination year round. In spring and summer, people flock here to hike, kayak, fish, whale and wildlife watch, and walk the shoreline, energized by the powerful surf and rugged forests.

In winter, Ucluelet is an extraordinary place for Vancouver Island storm watching. To the west, Arctic and subtropical air masses collide over the Pacific Ocean, and tempests come one after another slamming into the island. As many as 15 storms per month hit the west coast during winter.
